Sandra Bullock proves to the world that she is the most beautiful woman of 2015 by calling out the media for attacking women’s physical appearances.
Bullock was completely shocked when she received the award in April, but she decided to use the publicity for good.
“I laughed when People said they’re gonna be generous and bestow me this wonderful privilege, but I said if I can talk about the amazing women who I find beautiful, which are these women who rise above and take care of business and do wonderful things, and take care of each other, then I’m more than honored to be on the cover of this,” says Bullock in an interview with E! Online.
Bullock went so far as to call the whole thing ridiculous. She believes that true beauty comes from people who aren’t trying to be beautiful.
When People asked what she meant by this, Bullock explained, “Be a good person, be a good mom, do a good job with the lunch, let someone cut in front of you who looks like they’re in a bigger hurry.”
The media has become blind to this kind of beauty. Their only focus is on appearance and age. “I feel like it’s become open hunting season in how women are attacked and it’s not because of who we are as people, it’s because of how we look or our age,” comments Bullock.
She fears that men growing up in this world will be influenced by the media trend to attack women and learn not to respect them. Bullock says that she is trying to raise her son to ignore media influences, but it is hard.
“Little girls are having the hardest time with bullying and the internet—somebody with a very large hand and big voice needs to put a stop to it,” explains the actress. “But until then, women need to look out for each other.”
