Simon Cowell’s mother, Julie Cowell, has passed away on Sunday at the age of 89. After this sad news, Cowell has canceled X Factor auditions in Manchester, England scheduled for this week.
Julie Cowell leaves behind four sons; Nicholas, Simon, Tony and Michael, and two stepchildren, John and June Cowell.
"Today our beloved mum Julie passed away,” a rep for the family told Hello!. “Anyone who had met her would know what a truly special and kind lady she was. We are heartbroken and will miss her terribly, but she is now at peace.”
"We would like to thank the media for kindly respecting Julie's privacy throughout and we politely request continued privacy for the entire family at this particularly difficult time,” the rep continued.
A source close to the Cowell family told The Sun Julie, a former dancer, had been in the hospital in London recently. She died of a stroke.
Simon’s brother, Tony, took to Twitter on Sunday to call her “the heart and soul of our family.”
