Get out your boomstick and hail to the king again, baby. The first trailer for Starz' new series Ash vs. Evil Dead just hit the web, and it's thankfully just as groovy as you'd hoped it would be.

The promo premiered at Comic-Con yesterday, but quickly became available online on Starz' own YouTube account later that day. 30 years after the events of Army of Darkness our lead, and now titular hero, Ash (Bruce Campbell) isn't doing much of anything. He lives out his days in a trailer park home, drinking late at night, womanizing as often as he can and still working at the convenience store. He's not only still missing his hand, but his teeth no longer seem in action anymore either. He's seen rocking a pair of dentures to continue carrying his signature smile.

What exactly happened there? It's unclear, but more pressing matters are afoot. Like the evil of the Necronomicon, unleashed once again and requiring the skills and poorly-received hindsight only Ash could bring to the scene to save the world. He's not alone this time, however, and helping him along the way are two new allies and fellow Value Shop employees, Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo). Together, they wield off evil spirits, slash their way through some enemies with as much blood and puss as possible, and also see our lead strapping on his chainsaw once again for another wild ride.

Also set to star are Lucy Lawless and Jill Marie Jones. As the series was first announced at last year's Comic-Con, it's only fitting Sam Raimi and his brother, Ivan, Campbell, showrunner Craig DeGregario and Lawless would give fans more insight on what's happening with Ash vs Evil Dead, which is still currently in production for its 10-episode season in New Zealand. Like, for instance, a premiere date: the very fitting October 31 at 9 p.m.

Bringing the horror of the first movie, the character of the second and third and the tracking and POV shots iconic throughout, Ash vs. Evil Dead looks to be exactly the bloody good time it needs to be to honor the beloved horror-comedy franchise. Although Raimi is only set to direct the pilot, it looks like this continuation remains in good hands... or should I say, hand.
