Fans of The Flash will be excited for season two after it was announced at the San Diego Comic Con that the role of Jay Garrick has been cast. Not only that, but Barry Allen may have a new love interest coming on the horizon.
During the Comic-Con panel for the hit CW show, it was announced that in addition to Garrick, another character named Patty Spivot would be joining the cast, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Comic fans may recognize Jay Garrick as the very first character to originate the role of The Flash. Masters of Sex star Teddy Sears is set to take on the role. Garrick comes to our team to warn Barry and S.T.A.R. labs of a threat that he will be unable to stop on his own.
Plus, the new big bad for season two will be none other than Professor Zoom, who is an alternate version of Eobard Thawne in the comics.
Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer on the show, also revealed that Shantel Van Santen from One Tree Hill would take on the role of Patty Spivot, who joins the show to partner with Detective Joe West. She is not only obsessed with the metahumans, but she has a crush on Barry. He said her character “will complicate Barry Allen’s love life in season two.”
Entertainment Weekly reported Kreisberg as saying, “It is so exciting, as we rush into season 2, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn’t imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy.”
