The MTV Video Music Awards are fast approaching and it has been announced that the host for this year’s ceremony will be Miley Cyrus.

The 22-year-old seems like a bold choice given her raunchy antics, but the VMAs are notorious for pushing the envelope and are not exactly a family-friendly affair. Still, having the “Wrecking Ball” singer host the 32nd installment of the award show has caused quite a stir.

The Parents Television Council is not at all happy with Cyrus being chosen as the host and as we reported, PTC president Tim Winter slammed the network’s pick.

“[MTV] must rate it TV-MA. With Miley's shtick, it's probably going to be very edgy, very profane, very sexually explicit," Winter said.

It’s unknown how the former Disney star will fair in the hosting role, but there’s always a chance she could go down in history as one of the great ones. We’ll have to wait until Sunday, Aug. 30, to find out though.

In the meantime, and in honor of Cyrus landing the gig, TheCelebrityCafe.com is taking a look back and counting down some of the best to have ever hosted the MTV VMAs.
