Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick shocked fans when they announced they would be splitting up after almost a decade together.

Their breakup came after pictures surfaced of Scott getting very close with his former girlfriend Chloe Bartoli while on vacation in Monaco. The pictures showed Scott getting very flirty with his ex as he rubbed her back and cuddled with her on a hammock.

And where was Kourtney while this was taking place? Home with her and Scott’s three children: Mason, 5, Penelope, 2, and Reign, 6 months, celebrating the Fourth of July.

Scott’s immature and selfish behavior makes it evident that Kourtney has made the right decision for dumping Scott and that it might be the only way for Scott to take control of his actions. By making their split official and involving the media, Kourtney is showing Scott that his playboy behavior is unacceptable and that enough is enough.

Avid watchers of Keeping Up With The Kardashians know this is not the first time Scott has messed up. The show has documented several of Scott’s lowest moments, shedding light on his excessive alcohol use and struggles to maintain sobriety.

These moments date back to as far as 2010 when Scott punched a mirror during a scary alcohol-induced rage that nearly put Kourtney and Mason, who was 7 months old at the time, in danger. At the end of the episode, Kourtney temporarily ended things with Scott, telling him that she loved Mason more than him.

Scott then went on to publicly display is drunken behavior during a Kardashian family trip to Las Vegas. In yet another alcohol-induced rage, Scott shoved a $100 bill in a waiter’s face during an argument. This ended in Kourtney cutting off communication from Scott, but eventually taking him back in the end.

And who could forget Scott’s most recent drunken rampage, when the reality star mixed pills and alcohol and landed himself in the hospital in 2014. This health scare occurred while the family was living in the Hamptons and Kourtney was pregnant with their third child, Reign.

But despite all the drama and reoccurring drunken, belligerent outbursts in the past 10 years, Kourtney has managed to put it all behind her and stay with Scott for the sake of their children. Now she is putting her foot down and getting the respect she deserves.

Scott has clearly become too comfortable with his on-and-off-again relationship with Kourtney; he knew that if he messed up she would get mad, but ultimately take him back. This allowed Scott to act out and never really address his problems because he knew that Kourtney would always forgive him. This has resulted in a vicious, unhealthy cycle that appears to be never ending.

Though one would think that this would be a wake up call to Scott to get his drinking under control, it certainly has not been. Since announcing their breakup, Scott has booked (and canceled) several club appearances around the country and there was even a party at the house he just moved into.

He even had a short-lived rehab stint following his Monte Carlo picture scandal, but left the treatment facility after just a few hours. E! News reported that Scott headed to Miami the very next day and was spotted partying.

Until Scott can come to terms with his demons and get a grasp on where his alcohol dependencies branch from, he is not suitable to be the father of three young children or a supportive life partner to Kourtney.

In light of all this heartbreak, Kourtney has put on a brave face for the cameras and her family. She has become an excellent role model for her children by putting an end to Scott’s disrespect and exhibiting her strength for the world to see.

Hopefully Kourtney’s decision to end the relationship will open Scott’s eyes and help him achieve the sobriety and peace he has been chasing for so long.
