The TV world is often just like the comic book universe. Nothing is ever dead. After not going forward during the previous pilot season, ABC has revived plans for a Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD spinoff, which will center on characters played by Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood.
News of the project, which is currently titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, first surfaced in April, but ABC ultimately passed on it a few weeks later. However, Variety reported Thursday that the project has been given a second life.
ABC put in a pilot order for the show, which will center on Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Blood). The pilot will be penned by SHIELD producers Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski. They are executive producing with Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb.
Sources for Variety say that it will not be a traditional spinoff, but just a show that follows the continuing adventures of the two characters. It’s not clear when the project would launch, or if there would be a back-door pilot during the upcoming season of SHIELD.
SHIELD will be back for a third season in September and Agent Carter will be back for season two. It has also been rumored that John Ridley (American Crime) is busy working on a top-secret Marvel TV project.
Aside from the ABC shows, Marvel is also producing shows for Netflix, including Daredevil and the upcoming A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
