This morning, Fox took the stage at the Television Critics Association Press Tour with renewed vigor, since the network has last season’s biggest new show, Empire. Fox plans on keeping its relationship with Empire co-creator Lee Daniels going by ordering another pilot from the Precious director.

Not much was revealed about the new project beyond the title and setting. It will be called Star and is set in Atlanta. The project received a pilot order and Daniels is writing with someone who isn’t Danny Strong. (Strong worked with Daniels on both Empire and Lee Daniels’ The Butler.)

Since both Star and Empire are both about the music industry, could there be a crossover?

“It’s not inconceivable that the two worlds could cross, but that’s not Lee’s intention,” Chairman and CEO Dana Walden said of Star, notes TheWrap. “Perhaps down the line there will be some shared DNA, but not heading into the show.”

Empire’s second season will debut in the fall and is set to include countless cameos from real music superstars. Mariah Carey joined this week and Pitbull’s cameo was announced today.
