Stars of the upcoming Muppets TV reboot and longtime companions Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog announced that they have broken up after about 40 years together.
The two broke the sad news to fans on Tuesday via Twitter.
"After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship," the couple said. "We will continue to work together on television and in all media now known or hereafter devised, in perpetuity, throughout the universe. However, our personal lives are now distinct and separate, and we will be seeing other people, pigs, frogs, et al. This is our only comment on this private matter ... unless we get the right offer. Thank you for your understanding."
Reports are swirling that Kermit has already moved on and his new girlfriend, Denise, works in marketing.
Their breakup follows a long list of other celebrities who have called it quits this summer including Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert and most recently, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale.
The Muppets premieres Tuesdays this fall on ABC.
