Andrew Macias, a 4-year-old first-time Pre-K student who arrived to school on the first day, is now going viral thanks to his interview with a reporter before going into the City Terrace Elementary School in California on Tuesday.

Macias was perky in the beginning, claiming he wouldn’t miss his mom on his first day of school. But it seems he thought it over in his head for a second, and realized he would be leaving her.

He then started crying and hugged his mom off-camera, much to the embarrassment of the KTLA news reporter, Courtney Friel.

Friel posted the video to Instagram and wrote, “This breaks my heart and now I'm anxious about sending my kids to school! He was trying to be so brave!”

The first day of school is heart wrenching for both parents and their kids, so Macias just embodies the emotions most kids his age feel on the first day. Check it out below:
