NBC will have to find another host for The Biggest Loser. Alison Sweeney is stepping down from hosting the long-running reality competition show.
The peacock sent a statement to Access Hollywood confirming that Sweeney will not be returning to host the show’s 17th season, which is set to begin shooting in September.
Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that Sweeney is leaving the show. She likely made the decision so she can focus on other projects, especially her work with the Hallmark channel. She stars in Love on the Air, which begins on Sept. 26.
Sweeney also stars in the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries movie, Murder, She Baked, which airs in November.
Sweeney had a long relationship with NBC, as she also starred on Days of Our Lives as Sammy for two decades. You can check out our interviews with Sweeney from 2013 and 2014.
The Biggest Loser premiered in 2004 and is a contest to help overweight contestants lose weight with professional trainers. Sweeney started hosting in 2007.
