American Pharoah won the Haskell Invitational.

The race was American Pharoah's first victory since winning the Triple Crown in June, according to CBS New York.

The horse, owned by Ahmed Zayat of Teaneck, New Jersey, recently won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes. He became the first horse to win the Triple Crown in 37 years, CNN said.

American Pharoah defeated Victor Espinoza, making this race his eighth consecutive victory. Bob Baffert, the horse's trainer, has now won the Haskell Invitational seven times, more than any other trainer, according to ___.

Zayat and Baffert were each guaranteed $75,000 for racing American Pharoah in the Haskell. The race's officials then announced that the $1 million purse would be raised to $1.75 million, according to The New York Times.

Ten of the 11 Triple Crown winners competed and seven of them won.

The 48th William Hill Haskell Invitational was held today at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, New Jersey.
