A week has passed since Boston Comic Con took over the Seaport World Trade Center. The crowds have long dispersed, costumes put away and the celebrities returned to work — or whatever it is they're doing these days.
But what they had to say in their panels is still interesting, still important. The fans that were there for them are likely still reveling in the conversation they shared with their favorite actors.
For those of you who couldn't be there, here's a recap of the Q&A with Kat Graham from The Vampire Diaries,
As soon as she walked in the room, Graham expressed her love for the fans and said she was happy to spending time with them. She later said the Boston Comic Con is better than San Diego because she had more time connect with fans. At the end of the panel she even said she's never met anyone from Boston who wasn't cool.
Now for the questions... the first one asked: which death was most emotional?
"They're all for different reasons. Grams, Elena, when I thought Jeremy had died. It's an intense show."
On if she's close with the cast..
She said the cast is all pretty close, but she's particularly close with Nina [Dobrev] and with the boys, since she's a tomboy. However, she doesn't get to hang out with them a lot between work and spending free time with fans.
She did later say that when the cast is on set but not working, they hang out "like country bumpkins" — they go on Zach Roerig's boat with their dogs and BBQ.
On saying goodbye to Dobrev...
She said that Nina was most worried about her because they're the closest, and that it was so emotional that toward her final scene, they avoided each other on set.
"It's rare to work with someone you have such a great connection with... so that was very hard in that scene."
On if she's taken center stage since Dobrev is gone now...
She said she hasn't had an episode off like she usually would at this point in filming, and she works more with Ian now, but doesn't feel like she's actually working more than usual.
On how it feels to shoot without Dobrev there...
She said since she hadn't worked with Nina lately, it's not too different for her but on set it is.
"Energetically, it's different... I definitely miss her, but I'm stoked for all the great things she'll do," said Graham. "As a fan, the most important thing you can do is support her in her next journey, support Claire Holt, Michael Trevino and support me because I'm not staying on this for 20 years."
On if she'd ever do TV again after TVD...
She would, but not a vampire show and she'd want to have a producer role.
"I wouldn't want to jump into another show without being involved early on and having creative control over how my character develops."
On what character she'd want to create herself?
"I'm a girl's girl, so definitely a strong female lead," said Graham. She likes the idea of an "unassuming character," a girl who comes from nothing, who may get overlooked but has power.
On the show's special effects...
Graham said that fire scenes are real flames from a flame bar, the feather scene in Season 1 was "just a guy dangling a wire" with feathers on them and the scene where she came home angry at her parents and blew out the windows was just production assistants throwing rubber glass.
On the state of Bonnie in the season finale...
"I'm alive but my body is in the boiler room and no one addressed that."
On a Bamon (Bonnie-Damon) romance...
"Anything is possible on TVD," she said, continuing on to note that she's not attached to the outcome but wants fans to be invested. Thus, she thinks if there's interest, "why not explore it?"
But she later mentioned that Bonnie may have a different love interest coming next season.
Other thoughts she shared on Bonnie and the show's future, in response to various questions...
She does not think she'll appear on The Originals, though she did shoot a TVD scene on their set, nor does she think there will ever be a musical episode, even though creator Julie Plec loves musicals.
On if Bonnie will ever get to sing on the show...
"I like to keep those two things separate (music and acting)," said Graham. "If people start to blend [who I am and the job I have] I think it would do more damage and good."
She would like to do soundtrack work like Michael Malarkey (Enzo), but Malarkey's folk music fits better than her pop and R&B and she likes helping him get featured.
On how she as an actress feels about Bonnie always sacrificing herself...
"The fans have a lot to say about it online, and I can't say I disagree... but there are people in the world who do make those sacrifices," said Graham.
But she then added that those days are behind Bonnie — after everything she's been through she's done taking so much BS.
On her favorite part about being stuck with Damon...
She said the pancakes — which were gluten-free for Ian [Somerhalder]. "We had a great time with those scenes."
She also liked the super market scene with Kai because she and Ian got to do improv physical comedy.
On music vs. acting...
"When I'm playing a character like Bonnie there's a distinct style... but I'm different and I like being myself, as weird as I am," said Graham. "I love acting, it's a great way to express yourself but at the end of the day you just want to be yourself... [with] music, I get to do me."
She later said that she's "never not done music" and doesn't know how to not do it. She wants to do it all, both music and acting, like "Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and Will Smith." She has always planned to do music full throttle no matter what else she's doing.
On advice to aspiring musicians...
She said that it's tough because the industry is changing. She noted that she's more successful now that she's independent of a label, but said "if it's the right label deal, it will work out."
She then said, "if you have dope music, people will respond no matter where it's from so just do your own thing."
Other tidbits we learned...
-She's toured with the Black Eyed Peas and is currently working on a music video and album art.
-She wishes that Bonnie and Liv would have teamed up more or had a face-off, and thinks
Penelope Mitchell is a great actor so she wishes she could have worked more with her in general.
-If it was up to her, Bonnie would look like Helena Bonham Carter's character in Fight Club — wild hair, circles under her eyes, she'd be crazy and a recluse.
-Her favorite season was possibly Season 3, since 4 and 5 she was alone a lot — "not that I don't love working with myself, I'm my favorite actor," she joked.
-She's experienced supernatural-seeming events such as street lights going on and off when she walks by, and has seen a ghost or two. She believes all that "stuff" is possible.
-Following last year's broken engagement to long-time boyfriend Cottrell Guidry, at this point she said she is "doing the whole crazy dog lady thing and focusing on my career."
-If she could be any supernatural character she'd want to be Hayden Panettiere's cheerleader or any character from the show Heroes. Someone even once told her she looked like Panettiere dipped in chocolate. She got "super stoked."
-She considers herself a hired actor who is just as obsessed with the show as fans.
