Caitlyn Jenner could face vehicular manslaughter charges for the fatal Feb. 7 car crash on Pacific Coast Highway that resulted in the death of another driver.

The Los Angeles county Sheriff’s Department just concluded its investigation into the crash, in which Jenner crashed into a Lexus in front of him. Kim Howe, 69, was killed and her two stepchildren have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jenner.

According to TMZ, the sheriff’s department found that Jenner started a “chain of events” that lead to the crash by driving at an unsafe speed. Therefore, the department concluded that Jenner violated the misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter law.

Lt. Shaun Mathers of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department told Variety that the department will submit the case to the district attorney next week.

If Jenner is charged and convicted, she could face up to a year in jail.

“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Jenner said in a statement after the crash. “It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
