On this week’s episode of Chasing Life, April confronts Dominic, Natalie meets her other grandmother, and April and Leo finally get married.
April holds up her own wedding rehearsal at Church, because she’s off writing. Enter George, who helps remind April of her priorities at hand, and the rehearsal picks up with a mock exchange of vows. Leo says that he and April have written their own vows and April is sure to “destroy” hers since she’s a writer.
Cue opening theme.
Back at the Carver house, the rehearsal dinner is in full swing and the only thing missing is an after party. Leo discusses a potential job opportunity with his parents at their company and Brenna wonders why Maids of Honor have more duties than Best Men. When Brenna looks to her uncle George for confirmation, he and Sara reveal that they dated before Sara married Thomas.
Later, George asks Sara how she’s been coping with recent changes and offers his support.
April and Leo prepare to part ways at their after party while Beth plays up her chemistry with her new beau, Gabe to make Graham jealous. Beth also notices a rash on April’s shoulder blade, but April brushes it off as a potential side effect of her clinical trial.
April visits Dominic since he didn’t show up to the rehearsal dinner after party and he lies about he got his black eye. Dominic says he won’t be able to make it to the wedding, either, because work has been piling up and that’s when April tells him he’s one of the most important people in her life and wants him to be present for important milestones.
The next morning, April and her uncle, George are both up early. George says he couldn’t sleep, because he was thinking about April’s dad. George knows April has complicated feelings toward her dad, but Thomas loved her and George wishes he could be there for her wedding day. April seems to disagree, telling her uncle about her father’s manuscript and how he didn’t think she was much of a great writer. George tells April that isn’t true and everyone knows she’s talented because of the work she did at The Post. A little while later, April worries that Leo proposed out of pity since he knew she was dying, but George reassures her that isn’t the case.
Later, everyone primps for the wedding when April’s paternal grandparents arrive.
Graham tries to convince Dominic to go to the wedding and show support as April’s friend, but Dominic doesn’t think he can stand to watch her marry someone else. Simultaneously, Graham is determined to show Beth he’s moved on.
Beth helps April get ready when Frankie appears. April thanks her for organizing Leo’s bachelor party and the rehearsal dinner after party and asks how things went with Leo and Dominic. April explains she visited Dominic and noticed his black eye. Frankie is reluctant to divulge any information, but eventually lets slip about Leo and Dominic’s “fight.” When April wants to know more and Frankie doesn’t think it’s her place to keep spilling secrets, the two women get into a little scuffle.
Natalie bonds with Thomas’ mother and freaks out when her grandmother wants to know about April’s health and not her own life. Natalie complains about being out of the loop and mentions Thomas’ manuscript.
Dominic goes running and recalls when he and April broke up.
April discusses Dominic and Leo’s fight with Beth and Brenna. Suddenly, Emma enters and tells them that Leo is there. Beth and Brenna are adamant about Leo not seeing April before the wedding so he agrees to remain in the hallway outside April’s room while they talk. They discuss the fight at his bachelor party, April visiting Dominic, and whether or not he is marrying April out of pity.
Thomas’ mother apologizes to Natalie and says she doesn’t know how to act while at the Carver house, because she can’t compete with Emma, who has lived with April and Brenna for the majority of their lives. Natalie understands and gives her grandmother her cell phone number that way they can stay in touch.
Sara watches George get ready for the wedding and shares an awkward moment with him and his girlfriend.
Dominic gets dressed and decides to go to April and Leo’s wedding after all.
Wedding guests start to arrive at Church and Beth and Gabe fight when he notices Beth trying to make Graham jealous again.
In the foyer of the Church, Brenna and Emma give April a final once over. Enter Sara, who can sense April’s doubts and gives her the reassurance she needs to go through with marrying Leo.
Meanwhile, Dominic rushes to find April.
Back at Church, Sara starts walking April down the aisle when April collapses. April is rushed to the hospital, where she remains unconscious. Simultaneously, Dominic arrives at Church only to find it empty.
When April awakes, she is lectured by Dr. Hamburg for not taking better care of herself and April apologizes to Leo for ruining their wedding.
In the waiting room, Brenna worries about her sister and her grandmothers comfort her, much to Natalie’s dismay. Dominic also shows up, having heard about April and explains his last minute change of heart. When Dominic visits with April, he tells her he just wants her to be happy.
Later, Dr. Hamburg informs April she’ll be taken off the clinical trial as a precaution and will need to stay in the hospital for observation. Leo asks to speak to Dr. Hamburg privately for a second and he and April wind up getting married in the hospital chapel with all their guests present.
Meanwhile, Beth and Graham reconcile by hooking up in one of the hospital’s storage closets.
After the wedding, Dr. Hamburg asks George’s assistance in flushing out the remnants of April’s clinical trial and Sara is appreciative that George has followed through on his promise to be there for her.
Back in the hospital’s chapel, Leo and April share their first dance as husband and wife and Leo says he decided to accept the job working for his dad.
End of episode.
