Do you want to be stuck “LIVING IN A VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER?” If it means we get to spend the afternoon with our favorite motivational speaker, yes!

In a new clip shared by Entertainment Weekly from the upcoming documentary I Am Chris Farley we get a glimpse of Matt Foley in his early days. Before his time on Saturday Night Live, Chris Farley was a troupe member of the well-known improv theater, Second City. The clip shows Farley performing as Matt Foley before the actor and character’s SNL debut.
In the video Bob Odenkirk, Second City alum and one time SNL writer talks about performing Matt Foley Motivational Speaker, “My daughter asked me what was the best thing I’ve ever done in show business, and I said onstage doing Motivational Speaker with Chris Farley eight times a week. No question. Nothing will ever come close.”

The video also revealed that although characters are often renamed multiple times in the Second City/SNL landscape, Chris Farley vowed to never change Matt Foley’s name.
It’s been a fruitful week if you are a Farley fanatic. A voice recording of Chris Farley as Shrek surfaced.
I Am Chris Farley will be released on VOD and DVD Aug. 11. Check out TheCelebrityCafe.com’s review of the documentary.
