Curt Schilling, the former pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, posted a meme on his Twitter account that appeared to compare Muslims to Nazis.
SBNation reported the meme showed a red image of Hitler that claimed that while there were only 5-10% of Muslis who were extremists whole in 1940, 7% of people who were Germans were also Nazis.
This led to one Twitter user pointing out that Hitler still got elected, but then Schilling responded back that he couldn’t “possibly know that #.”
Schilling later deleted the meme after posting it, but it is still on his Facebook page. According to the Facebook photo he shared, it came from BREAK UP the IRS’ feed.
Eventually, he did apologize when one Twitter user said the meme was “SO far beneath you.” He also responded to another user who pointed out the exact percentage of Germans voting for Hitler in 1932-1933.
Schilling appears to acknowledge his mistake, with one user telling him that he appreciated that the meme had been removed and that he was “owning your mistake.” When asked why he deleted the meme, he responded that he did not have any reason for it to be up.
