Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick will miss the entire 2015 season after tearing his ACL in his right knee.

The injury happened during practice on Tuesday. Video shows Scandricks’s leg bended awkwardly under rookie receiver Lucky Whitehead after he tried to break up a passing play. Whitehead said he bent down when he thought that Scandrick was going to hit him. An MRI revealed that Scandrick had torn his ACL and MCL, according to the Associated Press. He will have surgery to repair the tears.

''He said immediately, 'It's my ACL. I know it. It's gone,''' Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henerson said.

"I'll be back, and I'll be better than ever," Scandrick said in a text to ESPN.

Scandrick has signed a one-year contract extension with the Cowboys, which includes a $3 million signing bonus. He has become the Cowboys best cornerback. In each of the last two seasons he had two interceptions, which is a career-high, according to Fox Sports. Scandrick has seven interceptions in his career.

Second-year cornerback Tyler Patmon will likely be Scandrick’s replacement. The Cowboys could also have free-agent pickup Corey White play at cornerback.
