Even though NBC and Warner Bros. TV’s last DC Comics series didn’t fare so well, the network and studio are working together again to try a new twist on the comic book TV show. A To Z creator Ben Queen has created a workplace comedy set in the DC universe.
The project, which Deadline first reported on, is titled Powerless and has received a pilot production commitment. It is set at an insurance company office, that just happens to be in the DC Comics universe and explores the life of an average powerless person in a world where Batman and Superman exist.
Powerless isn’t likely to feature Batman or Superman, but will probably use some lesser-known DC heroes.
Queen will serve as writer/executive producer. Last year, his A To Z aired on NBC, but that show was cancelled. He also worked as writer on Pixar’s Cars 2.
Two new DC Comics shows will debut this season - CBS’ Supergirl and The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, along with the returning Flash and Arrow. NBC aired Constantine last season, but that only lasted 13 episodes. Warner Bros. TV and DC are also still developing Titans for TNT.
