Donald Trump made the first Republican presidential debate all about himself, as expected. Some pundits thought that the heat might have been muted for the very first debate, but all he did was turn it up even higher on the nine other candidates.
Trump came into the debate as the frontrunner, which in itself was a surprise. How did this billionaire/reality TV show star/walking insult machine get here? His early campaign success has to do with his trademark unprepared comments, which make him a media darling. This is like a car crash that we can’t look away from. And the problem is, it’s just getting started.
From failing to support a party candidate not named Donald Trump to insulting Rosie O’Donnell, the first debate in Cleveland was dominated by Trump. Sure, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and the others tried to be serious about policy, but who wants to talk policy when we could hear Trump ramble?
The next debate isn’t until Sept. 16, which certainly gives us enough time to see the dynamic of the race change. In the meantime, let’s look at the 10 crazy Trump moments from last night’s Fox News debate.
