There are many annual events that take place during Dragon Con, and cosplay competitions are definitely fan favorites!

For the last six years, The Georgia Aquarium has hosted a Dragon Con night, in which con goers have the chance to experience the underwater beauty of the largest aquarium in the world, thriving with over 100,000 animals. The best part is you get to show off your costume!

This year, Dragon Con night will feature Yaya Han and Marc Lee to host The Chôsen, an all new costume contest. Judges for the contest include Monika Lee from Heroes of Cosplay, Catherine Lee Lewis from God Save the Queen Fashions, and Lee “Fev” Camara of Fev Studios. During a pre-judging session, they will select 20 of the top costumes to be featured that night.

There will be over $1,500 in prizes for competition winners and a grand prize consisting of a four night stay at a host hotel for the 30th annual Dragon Con in 2016. So, get your costumes ready! Afterwards, Han will offer a meet and greet for fans to have photo ops and get autographs.

Convention co-chair Rachel Reeves assures us that “This is an amazing way to experience the intergalacticly famous Georgia Aquarium as only Dragon Con can bring it to you.” As if the competition wasn’t enough, there will also be live DJs, which Reeves explains, “will keep the atrium rocking like a barrel of wild sea monkeys. It’ll be a whale of a party!”

Dragon Con Night at the Georgia Aquarium will be Saturday, Sep. 5 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The costume pre-judging will begin at 6 p.m. For more information, including purchasing regular or VIP tickets, please visit the Georgia Aquarium website.
