Elvis Presley’s private nurse, Letetia Henley Kirk, has written a book about her time at Graceland called Taking Care of Elvis -- Memories with Elvis as His Private Nurse and Friend.

The 73-year-old traveled with him while he was touring and lived at his Memphis estate with her family from 1972 to 1983.

She said of the book of short stories, which was self-published and released on Monday, "I realized how hungry the fans are for stories about what life was like during a normal day at Graceland.”

She came to realize this when she attended an event during Elvis Week last August.

Kirk told Fox News, "They already know the stories about drugs and sex and life on the road. They want to know what Elvis was like at Graceland during his private time. That's what this book is, light-hearted stories of my memories and experiences with Elvis."

She wrote about gifts she received, even recalling turning down a Cadillac from him. "Elvis was extremely generous and just loved to make people happy," she said. "I was a very blessed country girl."

Kirk also told The Jackson Sun she was hesitant to write a book about him for the past four decades.

“I felt like he wouldn’t have written a book about me if it had been the other way around,” she said.
