Since the Caitlyn Jenner Halloween costume went on sale online, Spirit Halloween has been getting a lot of backlash and fans have urged the company to pull it.
As we previously reported, Spirit Halloween got backlash for selling the costume even before it went on sale, but once it did, all bets were off.
Twitter users have rallied against them for what many believe is an insensitive costume. The costume is the outfit Jenner wore on her Vanity Fair cover when completing her transition, along with a sash that reads “Call Me Caitlyn.”
MailOnline reports the unisex costume is being sold for $74.99, which includes the outfit, sash and wig.
Another Halloween website, Buy Costumes, was selling the Jenner costume online but they have since pulled it.
An activist in the transgender community, Addison Rose Vincent, has started a Change.org petition, asking Spirit Halloween to “revoke your ideas and production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume for Halloween.”
Vincent also wrote, “We are concerned that this costume will continue your oppressive tradition with a transphobic costume of Caitlyn Jenner.”
However, Trisha Lombardo, Sprit Halloween’s head of PR and marketing, has said, "Caitlyn Jenner has proven to be the most important real-life superhero of the year, and Spirit Halloween is proud to carry the costume that celebrates her."
