FX has set its schedule for the fall, meaning that we now know when the acclaimed Fargo will be back for a second season. Dates for American Horror Story: Hotel and Kurt Sutter’s The Bastard Executioner were also announced at the TCA press tour today.
Fargo’s second season is essentially a prequel to last year’s amazing first season, although it features none of the season one cast members. The link is Patrick Wilson, who plays a younger version of Lou Solverson as he investigates a murder in 1979 Sioux Falls. The new 10-episode season will start on Oct. 12.
The all-star American Horror Story: Hotel will begin on Oct. 7. The fifth season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology show stars Lady Gaga, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Matt Bomer, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Evan Peters and Finn Wittrock.
The Bastard Executioner is Sutter’s follow-up to Sons of Anarchy, but set in a very different world. Lee Jones stars as a 14th century warrior who is told to become a journeyman executioner. Katey Segal, Stephen Moyer, Flora Spencer-Longhurst and Sutter co-star. It premieres on Sept. 15 with a two-hour episode.
In addition, FX also renewed Guillermo Del Toro and Carlton Cuse’s The Strain was picked up for a third season. The show is based on del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain Trilogy novels and airs on Sundays at 10 p.m.
Lastly, FXX also picked up Cassius And Clay, a new animated series starring Kaitlin Olson and Lake Bell as the voices of the title characters. The first 10 episodes will start next year.
Oh, and Archer’s seventh season will air on FXX so it can be paired with Cassius and Clay. Both shows were created by Adam Reed.
