HBO has confirmed that it is considering bringing back its beloved, short-lived Western Deadwood back in the form of a movie.

The project appears to have gained steam thanks to actor Garret Dillahunt, who decided to randomly tweet on Wednesday that he is “hearing credible rumors about a Deadwood movie.” He then told the network that, if they can make an Entourage movie, they should do the same for Deadwood to give fans closure.

After that, a HBO spokesman told Variety that “very preliminary discussions” started, but the network wouldn’t say much else.

Back in 2006, HBO announced that the show would end with two two-hour movies following its third season, which aired in 2008. However, neither of those movies ended up happening.

Deadwood was created by David Milch, who went on to co-create HBO’s short-lived Luck, and featured a Golden Globe-winning performance from Ian McShane (who just joined Game of Thrones, by the way). Although the series was nominated for several Emmys, it only won awards in technical categories.

The series was set in the late 1800s in a South Dakota town beset with corruption and crime. Its cast included Dillahunt, McShane, Molly Parker, Timothy Olyphant, John Hawkes, W. Earl Brown, Kim Dickens and Anna Gunn.
