Hip-Hop artist Sean Price died in his sleep early Saturday at his apartment in Brooklyn. He was 43.
The cause of death is still unknown, according to the statement given by the rapper’s record label, Duck Down Music, to the Associated Press.
“It is with beyond a heavy heart that Duck Down Music is sadly confirming that Sean Price passed away early this morning in his Brooklyn apartment, Saturday, August 8th, 2015,” the statement said. “The cause of death is currently unknown, but it was reported that he died in his sleep.”
The New York native is known for being a member of the rap duo Heltah Skeltah, and also for performing with the group Boot Camp Clik. His last album was released in 2012.
According to BallerStatus.com, the rapper first established himself in the rap game in the mid-1990’s. Price went on to release his first solo album, Monkey Barz in 2005 which was received with praise and was followed by Jesus Price Supastar in 2007 and Mic Tyson in 2012.
Price is survived by his wife and three children.
