Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan is going to get to tell his side of the story on Good Morning America Monday, when he launches a media blitz to apologize for the racist comments that got him fired from the WWE.
On Friday, Hogan tweeted that he did an interview for ABC News’ Good Morning America and Nightline programs. He also did an interview with People Magazine. According to TheWrap, Hogan’s ABC News interviews will air on Monday.
Back on July 24, the WWE cut all ties with Hogan - even erasing him from its website - after The National Enquirer reported that Hogan’s leaked sex tape features him making racist slurs while complaining about his daughter dating a black man.
“It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it,” Hogan said in a statement. “I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs. It is not who I am. I continue to work every day to improve as a person, and this matter is an important learning experience for me in that regard. As a result I am resigning from my contractual relationship with the WWE.”
Hogan also told TMZ this week that he is not upset with the WWE for firing him over the incident. He also said he would want to be Donald Trump’s vice president. Don’t worry though, that was just a joke.
The ABC News interviews could also give him a chance to address his ongoing lawsuit against Gawker, the site that posted the sex tape in 2012. Hogan filed a $100 million lawsuit against the site.
