In the wake of the WDBJ7 shooting in Virginia, IFC is rescheduling an episode of their new show Documentary Now!.
Documentary Now!, a series created by Fred Arimsen, Bill Hader, and Seth Meyers, was planning to air an episode of their mocumentary series titled “Dronez.” According to Variety the episode parodied the Vice documentary series, and had scenes of journalists being killed.
IFC released a statement that outlined their decision to hold off on airing the episode. The network shared its sympathies with the victims. The “Dronez” episode of Documentary Now! is set to air next Thursday, Sept. 3.
IFC follows USA Network's decision in postponing showings. USA announced Wednesday that they would delay airing the season finale of their show Mr. Robot due to a graphic scene that was reminiscent of the tragedy in Virginia.
The New York Daily News used stills from the video of the shooting as their cover for today’s edition. The reaction to the cover has been almost exclusively negative.
