It often feels like James Franco has to be more than one person. There’s just no way he can do all the things he’s supposedly doing. For his next role, there will actually have to be more than one Franco since he’s starring as twins in David Simon’s new HBO project.

Franco will star as a pair of identical twins who set up a pornography empire in 1970s Times Square. It is currently titled The Deuce and has received a pilot order from HBO.

Simon, who created The Wire and Treme, also had a second pilot idea greenlit. Capital Hill centers on money in politics.

“We are thrilled to continue our longstanding relationship with preeminent producer David Simon, whose keen eye and visceral perspective on today’s socio-economic ills have set him apart from all others,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said in a statement. ”No one else creates with such authenticity, integrity and brilliant realism. We are so fortunate to support David’s efforts and to reap the benefits of his distinctive voice.”

This isn’t the only TV project Franco is linked with. In February, he was cast to star in 11/22/63, a Hulu mini-series based on a Stephen King novel about a time traveler trying to stop President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

Franco also has a bunch of film projects in various stages of development. These include Killing Animals, In Dubious Battles, The Long Home and the Seth Rogen-produced animated film Sausage Party.

Simon’s latest HBO project, the Oscar Isaac-starring mini-series Show Me A Hero, starts on Aug. 16.
