Jessica Simpson’s father, Joe Simpson, is being sued for $12 million for allegedly failing to pay a Hollywood executive a 10 percent finder’s fee for landing a buyer for The Jessica Simpson Collection.
Hollywood agent, Jeffrey Bowler, claims he’s owed a $12 million commission for being responsible for selling the majority stake in the company for $120 million.
TMZ reports Bowler claims he was the one who introduced Joe Simpson to the buyer and therefore he’s responsible for the sale and deserves the commission.
A rep for Jessica Simpson replied that she “has never met Mr. Bowler nor has she ever had any dealings with him whatsoever."
According to Page Six, Joe Simpson admits he did work with Bowler in trying to land an endorsement deal for the cosmetics portion of the company in 2010, but the deal “died on the vine.”
Joe has now claimed Bowler tried to extort him by threatening to drag the whole Simpson family, including Tina and Ashlee, into an embarrassing public lawsuit if he didn’t chalk over the $12 million.
