Kathe Lee Gifford remembered her late husband, Frank Gifford, on her first day back to the Today Show after his death on Aug. 9.

She talked at length about his faith, his gratitude for life and his roots living in poverty. "He was so grateful," she said. "He knew what hard work was, he never had an entitled moment in his life."

USA Today reports in addition to thanking fans for the outpouring of support following Frank’s death, she told fans he died in “complete peace.”

“We laughed until the very end,” she said, adding his faith allowed him to know “every sin he'd ever committed was forgiven."

She went on to say she’s “grateful” for the way he passed away, saying “the only thing Frank has ever afraid of his entire life was being a burden to his loved ones.”

In true Gifford fashion, she also joked he died in “what he knew was my favorite outfit” – very tight black jeans.
