Could a Spice Girls reunion be in the works for the group's 20th anniversary? If it is up to Mel B. (aka Scary Spice) then yes.
The singer went on the Today Show to promote the 10th season of America’s Got Talent, in which she judges along with Howard Stern, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, and the topic of the Spice Girls 20th anniversary came up.
"When you say it's our 20th anniversary, it makes you think oh gosh it really has been that long," she said, the Mirror reports. "Hopefully we'll gather the troops around and we'll get to do something to celebrate it this year. Well, it's in my plan. I don't know if it's in anybody else's. Everyone has taken their own path in certain areas of the entertainment world. We like each other and I think that's the most important part."
In July of 1996, the girl group debuted their first single “Wannabe,” which hit number one in 37 countries. Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell(Ginger Spice), and Victoria Beckham, née Adams (Posh Spice), made up the girl group, along with Mel B.
The last time the group got together for a performance was during the 2012 Summer Olympics’ closing ceremony in London, Contact Music remembers.
The fivesome have about a year to get together to plan a reunion that fans will for sure be waiting for.
