The breakup between Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog blindsided fans, but there may have actually been some trouble in paradise long before they announced the split.
In a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Muppets series, Kermit mentions his unhappiness with his longtime love.
Piggy "made my life a bacon-wrapped hell on Earth," Kermit is heard saying in the trailer.
The two stars released a joint statement confirming their breakup via Twitter on Tuesday.
Although the split was said to be amicable, it appears that Miss Piggy is taking the breakup harder than Kermit. As we previously reported, Piggy gave her ex some major attitude during a scheduled public appearance following the announcement.
Kermit, however, has moved on with his new girlfriend named Denise, who Piggy is not a fan of.
We’ll have to tune in to The Muppets on Sept. 22 to find out exactly what led to the split heard around the world.
