Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter, Edena Hines, died on Sunday at the age of 33 and her boyfriend has since been charged with the murder.
As we previously reported, Hines was stabbed to death early Sunday morning in New York City’s Harlem neighborhood.
It’s now been revealed the man who killed Hines, the granddaughter of Freeman’s first wife, Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, was 30-year-old Lamar Davenport.
USA Today reports Davenport was taken in right away at the scene of the murder and he was charged early Monday morning.
He underwent a psychological evaluation at a hospital after it was reported he was trying to perform an exorcism on Hines. Witnesses heard him yelling, "Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!" New York Post reports.
He was reportedly in a drug-induced psychosis at the time of her murder.
In a statement following Hines’ death, Freeman said, “The world will never know her artistry and talent and how much she had to offer. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
