For those getting ready to tune into MTV’s Video Music Awards on Sunday, expect to see a pretty wild show. After all, it is Miley Cyrus that’s hosting the event, and a producer now says she has no rules to abide by.
Executive producer Garrett English said they’ve given the “We Can’t Stop” singer, who made headlines while taking the VMAs stage in 2013, “free reign” to be herself.
“We’re giving her pretty free rein,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
“Obviously there are standards and various other things that were always a part of it, but no, [no rules]… It never comes from a place of trying to limit the range, it’s always coming from a place of trying to open up the full palate.”
English also said the rest of the team at MTV and Cyrus’ team were “immediately excited by” the prospect of her hosting.
Of course there’s always going to be push back, like with the Parents Television Council. The council’s president, Tim Winter, said the show is "not going to be safe for children to watch."
