Teen Choice Awards was an emotional night for a few celebrities, in particular for the Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev.
"As this chapter of my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart," Dobrev stated while she accepted the Choice TV Actress award in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Sunday night.
Dobrev, 26, has a successful career on the show. She played the role of Elena Gilbert on Vampire Diaries, CW's drama that aired in 2009 and lasted for six seasons.
Unfortunately, the actress had to leave the show behind, even though creators confirmed the following seventh season.
In April, the actress announced via Instagram that she would be leaving the show. During the award show Sunday night, she said, "I want to live like a twenty-something!"
She came on stage wearing vampire teeth, only to take them off and tell the audience, "That's right. I don't need these anymore."
The actress got teary as she discussed her changing career. "Change. It's a scary word – or at least I used to think that – because it meant new beginnings, new beginnings with a future that's unknown," Dobrev said.
But she was optimistic and left her teen fan-base looking forward to her future career. "Change is necessary – necessary for you to grow and to learn and to better yourself," she continued.
"Because everything in your life comes to an end. And, as this chapter in my life comes to an end, I look back at it with a grateful heart, and I smile."
Teen Choice Awards aired last night and was hosted by Josh Peck.
