Now that we have seen the second Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser over and over again, a YouTube user has given us a new way to look at its format with old scenes. A fan has made an incredibly cool new trailer for The Empire Strikes Back in the style of The Force Awakens’ second teaser.
YouTuber Dan Flesher uses scenes from arguably the best Star Wars movie, including narration, in a one-minute, 46-second teaser. It’s put together incredibly well and even includes footage from the original theatrical version of ESB. So yes, you are seeing the holographic Emperor audiences saw in 1980.
It’s really remarkable because it shows just how much of the Original Trilogy we will see reflected in The Force Awakens, right down to exploding TIE Fighters.
Here’s the ESB trailer:

By the way, the very first ESB teaser featured no footage at all. Released in late 1979, the teaser was made up entirely of concept art. There were a couple of character portraits - including one of then-new character Lando Calrissian - but no other moving footage.
The Force Awakens opens on Dec. 18.
