CBS is pulling out all the stops to promote Stephen Colbert’s premiere as host of Late Show. Or, that’s what they’ve lead him to believe.
In a new promo released on Late Show’s YouTube channel, Colbert is dodging a flaming dragon, meowing like a kitten, and informing his audience to put on their 3D glasses.
“Hey moviegoers, I’m Stephen Colbert. Put on your 3D glasses now,” the soon-to-be Late Show host says. He goes on to give a short informative pitch about watching him in his new gig, before ending in a “meow.” He is informed, after the fact, that CBS couldn’t afford 3D. “Well now I look like an idiot! Please tell me we at least still have the CGI dragon,” Colbert huffs. They don’t. Instead there is long green stick with a green ball and googly eyes glued on top.
CBS and Colbert have been working on an assortment of creative methods to promote the new Late Show. One week in July Colbert had lunch with us every day.
Earlier today it was announced that Colbert’s first Late Show guest will be George Clooney. Last night the host appeared on the final Daily Show to help the world thank and bid adieu to the brilliant Jon Stewart.
Colbert’s first episode of Late Show will premiere Sept. 8 on CBS.
