Christopher Hyndman, co-host of the afternoon talk show, Steven and Chris, was found dead in Toronto Monday night. He was 49.

Toronto police told CBC Tuesday afternoon that "out of privacy, the Toronto police will not discuss any matter unless there's a criminal element pertaining to a specific person."

Hyndman lived with Steven Sabados, his partner whom he shared an apartment with. Hyndman joined the Sabados Group Design Company in 1992. The two became known as they appeared on CBC-TV-- the HGTV shows Chic with Steven and Chris, Design Rivals, and Designer Guys.

Steven and Chris was launched on CBC-TV in 2008. According to CBC, the couple was known for their mutual "chemistry and cheeky banter."

"It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died," said a memo distributed to the CBC staff. "We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven [Sabados], family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all."

Jennifer Dettman, CBC's executive director, studio and unscripted programming, said the CBC team will be incomplete without Hyndman. "I think about the loss for Steven, that his partner for 25 years is gone and that our friend is gone," Dettman stated. "And certainly for the CBC, he will leave a hole. He really touched so many Canadians across this country. We saw the emails day in and day out of what he meant to them."

Hyndman did not only touch Canadians, but the whole world. According to the pair's official website, their program aired in over 80 countries. Even more, their design work has been featured by Oprah Winfrey.

CBC is planning a memorial area in Toronto on Wednesday for anyone to pay tribute to Hyndman.

It is with profound sadness that we share the news Christopher Hyndman died early this morning. We extend our deepest sympathies to Steven, family, friends and colleagues; our thoughts are with them all.
