JoJo (remember her?) made headlines this week for reviving her career. The pop star, who scored a few hits in the mid aughts, just put out three new tracks on Aug. 21.
JoJo sat down with Yahoo Beauty to explain the delay. Mainly, after her second album dropped, her record label never released her third full-length effort. Yet, as she was bound to Blackground Records for seven albums, she was essentially stuck.
She explains she took the label to court, got out of her contract and signed with Atlantic Records in 2014. While she put out a couple of low-key EPs and mixtapes, her #Tringle of “Say Love,” “Save My Soul” and “When Love Hurts” is her first official release in 10 years.
JoJo’s hardly the first pop star to attempt a comeback after a long wait. Those before her have tried and been moderately successful, or failed miserably. So, as JoJo turns a new page in her career, we count 10 pop acts who’ve also tried such a strategy.
