Viacom’s Nickelodeon was the channel to watch if you were a kid during the 1990s and is still a destination for children. But with ‘90s nostalgia reaching new levels of absurdity, the network is looking to revive the shows that we grew up watching.
In an interview with Variety, Nick president of content and development Russell Hicks revealed that they are “looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.”
While there were no specifics in the story, Variety suggested that some of the shows on the table for a reboot include beloved animated shows like Rugrats and Hey Arnold!, as well as You Can’t Do That On Television and Victorious. (Although why Victorious would need a reboot is a mystery, since the show ran from 2010-2013.)
The shows might not be brought back as a series, but first as a TV movie or special to test the audience.
“We are getting ready to bring back some of the ones they’ve told us multiple times they want to have brought back,” Hicks told Variety.
Nick is already embracing its past by bringing back Kenan & Kel’s Kel Mitchell for Game Shakers, which debuts on Sept. 12.
