Even though the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan was not successful, the new entry in Fox News pundit Bill O’Reilly’s Killing series is the Republican president. Following the success of previous adaptations of the series, National Geographic is already working on an adaptation of Killing Reagan.

News of the project was first reported by Deadline. No writer has been assigned, but Tim Pastore, President of Original Programming & Production at NatGeo U.S., told Deadline that they want to get the miniseries on air during the 2016 presidential election season.

“The intent here is to move aggressively … to be part of that zeitgeist, especially during a time when politicians are drawing more attention than they have in recent years,” Pastore explained to Deadline. “For us it’s the perfect opportunity to bring the next Killing franchise to light.”

Like the previous entries in the series, this will be produced by NatGeo with Scott Free Productions. It follows the success of Killing Lincoln, Killing Jesus and Killing Kennedy.

The book Killing Reagan, which was written by O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, was released today and is getting mixed reviews. USA Today called the book a “misfire.” Its title also doesn’t make sense, since Reagan was not killed after John W. Hinckley Jr. shot the president in March 1981. Reagan died at 93 in 2004, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
