Good Morning America noted that the 17-year-old posted a photo of her father on Sunday, which is Father’s Day in her native Australia, and also happens to fall just days after the 9th anniversary of Irwin’s death.

“Father’s Day is today in Australia and everyone is celebrating at Australia Zoo. It’s such a special time of year, I hope everyone who comes to the zoo today is able to enjoy it with our gorgeous animals. No matter where I am in the world, this day means such a lot to me. My heart forever lives @AustraliaZoo – just like Dad’s always did,” the caption that accompanied the photo read.

Irwin was just eight years old when her father was fatally wounded after being stung by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary.

The teen has followed in her father’s footsteps by continuing his conservation work. As we previously reported, her latest project takes her out of the wilderness and into the ballroom as a contestant on season 21 of Dancing with the Stars.
