Brian Williams has returned to MSNBC over six months after his NBC News scandal and suspension, which led to a demotion, for lying on air.

He returned to cover MSNBC's coverage of Pope Francis' visit to the U.S on Tuesday around 3pm. He was joined by Kate Snow, the newest addition to Sunday’s NBC Nightly News.

As we previously reported, Williams officially lost his job at NBC Nightly News in June, when the network announced Lestor Holt as his successor.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the Pope had not yet landed in the U.S. when Williams began his coverage, but he did cover the large crowds gathering in the D.C. area, where President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama would eventually greet him.

When Williams talked to Matt Lauer about losing his job on the Today Show in June, he admitted, "Was it my first choice? No. Obviously I wanted to return to my old job. I pushed back at first. Enough time has passed. I accept the decision.”
