She touched on it on her E! docu-series I Am Cait, but Caitlyn Jenner didn’t officially file documents to change her name until Tuesday, September 15.

Jenner has officially filed the documents asking for a name change from Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner as well as a gender change in L.A. County Superior Court.

According to TMZ, Jenner has asked the judge to keep these documents sealed because she’s scared of threats she’s been receiving.

In particular, she wants her medical history kept from the public for fear the threats will escalate.

On her show, however, Jenner holds a “name change ceremony” at her Malibu home but it appears that she threw the celebration prematurely.

On July 1, Jenner introduced herself to the world as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair, wearing a white bustier top. That same day she tweeted, “I'm so happy after such a long struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn. Can't wait for you to get to know her/me.”
