The Cleveland Browns have suspended offensive line coach Andy Moeller, who is being investigated for an alleged incident with a woman from Maryland.

ESPN noted that authorities received a phone call over the weekend from a woman who was staying with Moeller to report an alleged assault. Police filed a report, but did not arrest him. The case will be referred to the prosecutor’s office on Tuesday.

After news of the alleged incident broke, the Browns suspended the 51-year-old coach indefinitely.

“Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller has been suspended indefinitely by the team effective immediately,” the team announced in a press release. “Over the weekend, Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

This is not Moeller’s first run-in with the law. He has been arrested several times for alcohol-related offenses and was suspended by the league in 2011 when he was with the Baltimore Ravens.

He is the son of former Michigan head coach Gary Moeller and played linebacker for the Wolverines from 1983-86.
