It’s certainly no surprise that comedian Craig Ferguson got another talk show gig, but it’s surprising where he found a home. His new show will air on the History Channel.

Titled Join Or Die With Craig Ferguson, the show will feature the former Late Late Show host debating historical topics with celebrities and historians. There will also be interaction with the public through social media.

The History Channel announced that it has greenlit 16 episodes, which will run a half-hour each.

“Craig is incredibly knowledgeable, but also has a fun way of getting people engaged in history,” Paul Cabana, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for History, said. “It's clear this is his passion project and we're looking forward to having him join the network.”

Ferguson added, “I’m a huge fan of History and what they do. I'm delighted to be on their schedule and promise that we will have a lot of fun but we will also stick to the truth.”

The show is named after Benjamin Franklin’s famous 1754 call to American colonists. Ferguson got a tattoo of the phrase on his arm after he became a U.S. citizen.

The series will be produced by Comedy Dynamics and Green Mountain West with Lionsgate TV.

Ferguson hosted The Late Late Show on CBS from 2005 to 2014. He earned a Primetime Emmy nomination in 2006 and won a Daytime Emmy this year for hosting the game show Celebrity Name Game.
