With the 67th Primetime Emmys just days away now, the Television Academy is busy securing the presenters. The first wave was announced today, with two stars from the snubbed Empire getting to present.
Both Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard were selected to present awards. While Henson was nominated for Empire, Howard was not and the show overall was surprisingly left out of other major categories. It’s no consolation prize, but having the stars of its biggest show present will help Fox executives rest a little easier.
The other presenters have nothing to do with Fox. Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is up for an Emmy for SundanceTV’s The Honourable Woman; Jimmy Kimmel, the host of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!; LL Cool J from CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles; and Amy Poehler of NBC’s Parks and Recreation will also present.
The Emmys will be hosted by Andy Samberg, one of the stars of Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It airs live on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
