On Friday tennis fans came to terms with Serena Williams losing in shocking fashionat theU.S. Open to unseeded Italian player, Roberta Vinci, by blaming her loss on Canadian rapper, Drake.

Fans used #BlameDrake on Twitter to express their discontent for William’s defeat.

As we previously reported, Drake and Williams were spotted on a romantic date last month, and according to HollywoodLife.com, Drake was seen at the match cheering for his rumored girlfriend.

Unluckily for Drake, this isn’t the first time he has been associated with bringing bad luck to sports teams. The New York Daily News, reports the Cleveland Cavaliers and Johnny Manziel of the Cleveland Browns suffered bad luck when the Canadian rapper showed his support. New York Magazine calls it the “Drake Curse” and reports the Miami Heat, the Raptors and the University of Kentucky Wildcats have all experienced it.

Fortune magazine reports that Williams's exit from the tournament has negatively affected ticket prices. Chris Leyden, a content analyst for SeatGeek told Fortune, “We’ve now got tons of lower bowl seats for below $1,500 and even have some for below $800 each. Before the match, I didn’t see any below $3,000.”

Williams would have been the first woman to win all four majors in one calendar year since 1988.
