We've seen plenty of shows suffer after losing their showrunner, such as The West Wing and Community, but it looks like Daredevil fans may not have to worry about that.

Drew Goddard served as showrunner for Daredevil's first season, only to leave the show in order to direct Sinister Six, a project which fell apart after the Sony/Marvel deal. He was then rumored to be in talks for Marvel's new Spider-Man, but Jon Watts was hired instead. Needless to say, he's had a rough past few years.

But Goddard recently revealed that despite stepping down as showrunner, he's still involved in Season 2 as executive producer, and Netflix isn't simply slapping his name on the series without him doing much.

Goddard said that he was in the writers room of Season 2 just a few weeks ago. When asked to describe what his role is in the series, Goddard said that he remains in contact with the new showrunners and does whatever he can to contribute.

“My job is wonderful which is—I mean my friends are running it, Marco [Ramirez] and Doug [Petrie], and when I say, ‘What do you guys need?’ they say, ‘Come in, talk,'" Goddard said. "That’s how it works, I’m still the executive producer."

Goddard went on to say, “I’m always there when they wanna talk about it, because this is what I do in my spare time anyway, sit around and talk about Daredevil. So if it counts as a job, I’m always ready to do it.”

The first season of Daredevil was easily Marvel's best TV show and some of their best work period, so it's great that they aren't totally losing the creative voice behind that first stretch of episodes.

Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2016. The show will be adding The Punisher this season, played by The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal, as we previously reported. After being introduced in Daredevil, The Punisher is expected to receive his own show somewhere down the line.
